John B. Carter


John Carter graduated from Acadia University in 1971 and became a chartered accountant in 1973. He was became a Fellow of Chartered Accountants (FCA) in 1996 and obtained the Institute of Corporate Directors Director (ICD.D) designation in 2012.

His entire professional career was with Ernst & Young and he retired as a partner in 2010. He was formerly the managing partner for Atlantic Canada and completed his career as a director in the firm’s quality and risk management group in New York.

He is Chair of the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Pension Plan Trustee and Co-chair of the Nova Scotia Pension Services Corporation. He has also served on the board of a number of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
