Winston Maharaj

 

Winston Maharaj was appointed president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) of Manitoba in December 2011.


Before joining the WCB, he was the CEO of HEB Manitoba, where he was responsible for the oversight of its operations and strategic planning process, and the alignment between operational plans and long-term goals. HEB is one of the largest pension plans in Manitoba and among the top 50 in Canada, with over 65,000 members and $4 billion in assets.


Mr. Maharaj has been an active member in different international, national, and provincial organizations, most recently the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, Public Plan Administrators Forum, and Canadian Pension and Benefits Institute.


He holds a master’s degree in public administration and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba, plus certificates in pension plan administration and global benefits management.
