Susan Philpott


Susan Philpott, former head of the Koskie Minsky pension and benefits group, is recognized as a leading practitioner in the area by Best Lawyers in Canada. She has an extensive background representing trade unions, employees, retirees, and pension funds from both the public and private sectors in labour relations and pension and benefits matters, with special focus on bargaining new benefits arrangements, and assisting with insolvent employers. Her advice is sought on trusteed and non-trusteed pension and group insurance plans, pension arrangements, and other benefit fund concerns, in addition to workplace disputes.


Ms. Philpott appears in court and before a wide variety of administrative tribunals, including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and Financial Services Tribunal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and public and private arbitration panels.


A past president of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, and consulting editor of the Lancaster House Pension & Benefit Law eAlert, she speaks regularly at client and professional seminars. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Ontario and Ryerson University, and has authored articles in numerous legal and benefits journals.
